The tiniest dogs in the world are the Chihuahuas. They are so small, they actually look like toy dogs – and so they get stuck with nicknames such as Teacup, Pocket Size, and Tiny Toy!
They weight around 1.5 and 3.0 kg (3.3 to 6.6 pounds), and usually are just 6-9 inches tall. Their size make them ideal as pets (especially for those who live in tiny apartments, and do not have much space to spare).
Despite their itsy-bitsy size, these puny dogs have one hell of a personality! They are fun loving and know just how to make their masters happy! These mini creatures are agile, intelligent, fast learners, and the likely winners at dog shows. Reward them with treats, praise, and other forms of positive reinforcement, to get them to do put in their best!
Do consider the fact that because of their small size, they can escape through the gaps between fencing in yards, and squeeze through other small openings, so care must be taken to close all such escape routes.
The size of this dog makes it ideal for it to be a ‘go-everywhere’ companion. Many claim that they are a lifetime companion…share your life with one, and you will share your life with no other dog…
