Not at all! It’s just a common misconception. The pigmentation in your skin determines the color of your complexion, and tea, coffee, or any other caffeinated drink has no effect on it.
In the olden days, it was believed that tea activates pigments and makes you more susceptible to tanning. However, we do know that it is our genetics that determine the color tone of your skin, and only the sun gives a tanning effect, i.e. it’s that big, round ball of fire which can darken the color of your skin pigmentation.
If you’re getting darker, and you drink tea or coffee, then be assured that that’s not the reason. It could be lack of sleep, stress, and even pollution, but definitely not the caffeinated drink! If it were caffeine, then chocolate, Coca Cola, and the many medicines which contain caffeine as a medication would also change our skin color! Enjoy your tea!
